There are probably as many kinds of chairs as there are builders, and this is one of mine, in two ways. This is my design and I built it for my wife and me. The other five may take a little longer to arrive. There are several things I like about this chair, the curves at the bottom of the rails, the tapered seat, but especially the back slats which reach almost to the floor. As I say in my video, the back of the chair is what you see most of the time and with this chair it is the back which grabs your attention right away. I use my mortising jig to cut all the mortises in this chair and brush on the finish. What makes this a most interesting chair for the builder is the use of angled floating tenons. The DVD video runs approximately 1 hour and shows in detail how to build this dining room chair. The paper plans give all the necessary dimensions. On the right, you will see a web video that shows you a sample of what we have on the DVD. Choose the version that is right for your computer. To buy this DVD with the paper plans, the cost is $29.95 + postage (Canadian dollars) and we accept PayPal and cheque. Purchase two projects and you receive a discount off the second one. Please go to our order and payment form to start the process. Or if you have questions, please contact us Disclaimer: Woodworking is inherently dangerous and in the videos you will often see me performing tasks which can lead to injury. I recommend that you take all necessary precautions and follow all safety procedures outlined by the manufacturer of your particular tools. In particular I do not use a blade guard on my table saw. I am comfortable with this but do not recommend that you remove the guard from your saw. |
